| 1920 | Warren Hillard Warren Yancey Hillard was born in Eau Claire, Pennsylvania on April 19, 1902 and came to Sebastopol in 1906 with his parents. After graduating from Spring Hill Grammar School in 1916, he attended Analy where he graduated in 1920. On June 16, 1928, Warren and Mildred Evelyn Shelley were married in Sebastopol. They had no children. Warren owned the ranch on Spring Hill that his father had established in 1908. In 1953, they sold the ranch and took an extended vacation throughout the U.S. He purchased a house on Taft Street from Analy Union High School for $500 and moved it onto a lot he had received from his sister Amelia (Hillard) Kidwell. After considerable renovation, they moved into the home on Bonnardel Avenue. Over the years, many of you probably parked in front of their home across from the tennis courts. Warren was a great lover of the outdoors, having fished and hunted in many areas of North America. His trophies included: Mountain Goat, Stone Sheep, Grizzly Bear, and Moose, from British Columbia in Canada and an Antelope from Wyoming plus numerous Mule Deer from California and Nevada. As each of his nephews grew up in the local area, he introduced them to hunting and fishing. Warren and Mildred were active in the Methodist Church. Warren was the Worthy Patron and Mildred was the Worthy Matron of Gold Ridge Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in 1952. For many years, Warren was active in La Fayette Lodge #126 Free and Accepted Masons and served as Worshipful Master in 1953. Warren was installed as the High Priest of the Sebastopol Chapter Royal Arch Masons #117 in 1971. He was also active in sponsorship of The Order of Rainbow for Girls in Sebastopol. Warren died on August 24, 1991 in Sebastopol. |
